Here is the description that was shared by Netflix for Lucifer 6, which also reminds us how the video on demand service has already delayed the conclusion of the show once:

When is Lucifer 6 released?

The sixth and final season of Lucifer will debut on September 10 on the streaming catalog of the Scotts Valley giant which, in 2019, saved the show from the cancellation wanted by Fox after the first three seasons.

Lucifer’s fate was still to end after 5 seasons, but Netflix and Warber Bros. wanted to bet again on the show by “extending” the fifth season with the aim of making another 10 episodes. The showrunners, in fact, have effectively eliminated the ending that was to conclude the series, given the departure of one of the main characters, continuing to write additional material.

What happened in last season’s finale?

In the Season 5 finale Lucifer started a war against his angelic but devious twin brother Michael (also played by Tom Ellis). Michael has in fact killed the detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), “colleague” and girlfriend of Lucifer.

The death of the woman kicks off the epic confrontation between angels and demons, with Lucifer shattered by loss who travels to Heaven to bring Chloe back to life, even knowing that only one of them could return to Earth. This act of unconditional love and altruism erases millennia of exile and wickedness of the former fallen angel, with Lucifer becoming the new God and returning to end the war against Michael, opening a new intriguing story arc that will be the leitmotif of the last season. This time the final one for real.
