It was during the October 18, 2021 keynote that Apple presented its new MacBook Pro 2021 14″ and 16″. The Cupertino company immediately opened pre-orders on its site. That said, the demand being so high, that the delivery times which were originally to be set for October 26, 2021 quickly increased to finally reach more than a month.

Regarding the price of the MacBook 2021, it is proposed in its 14-inch version from €2,249. This is the MacBook Pro with the basic configuration embedding the M1 Pro chip, 16 GB of RAM memory and a 512 GB SSD. MacBook Pro in 16 inches, the starting price is €2,749with the same basic configuration present on the 14-inch model.

The new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips

The big novelty of these new MacBook Pro 2021 are the new SoCs M1 Pro and M1 Max, which according to the first benchmarks would be twice as fast as the M1 chip. Apple’s new chips now have 8-10 CPU cores for the Pro variant and 10 cores for the M1 Max. On the GPU side, the M1 Pro now has 14 to 16 cores, and there are 24 to 32 cores on the M1 Max variant.

Fast charging, but not for everyone

The Apple firm also announced, during its keynote, a fast charging technology recovering 50% battery life within 30 minutes. That said, the included 67W charger is not compatible with fast charging, especially on the 14″ MacBook with the minimum configuration (8-core CPU, 14-core GPU, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD). If you opt for a 16-inch MacBook Pro, regardless of its configuration, you will have the 140W USB-C charger, which is obviously compatible with fast charging.

The Liquid Retina XDR 120Hz Pro Motion display

For the first time in history, the MacBook Pro 2021, available in two sizes of 14 and 16 inches, includes a screen offering a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Like the one found on the iPad Pro, this Liquid Retina XDR 120 Hz ProMotion screen will allow its users to enjoy a gaming experience worthy of the name. Finally, this adaptive frequency is borrowed from that which was already found on the iPhone 13 Pro.

The disappearance of the Touch Bar

This new 2021 generation of the MacBook Pro also signs the abandonment of the famous TouchBar.
