Mark Gurman thinks Apple still wants to launch an AirPower

AirPower

I think I can say with almost no doubt that one of the thorns in Apple has been the AirPower. That multi-device charger that seemed like it was going to be launched with a bang and that finally stayed in the inkwell. It is true that something similar has been launched but not with the ability to charge up to three of Apple’s most used and desired devices. Apple Watch, AirPods and iPhone. But it seems that the American company is willing to achieve it and continues in its efforts to launch that charger. So at least Mark Gurman says.

According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter for, Apple is still working on the idea of a charger capable of recharging multiple items at the same time. While MagSafe Duo technically fits the bill, they are actually two different types of docked chargers. An idea that Apple still wants to move away from, in favor of a single system. Rather than Qi or MagSafe-style charging, Apple is interested in providing power no need for hardware to be near the charger, working both in short ranges and in long ranges.

Gurman also offers that Apple’s system could allow reverse wireless charging to occur, where “all major Apple devices can charge each other.” For example, an iPad could provide charge to a nearby iPhone, or to an AirPods case, or to an Apple Watch. So that energy can be shared to keep devices charged while in a bag.

The truth is that it would be Apple’s flagship device. That charger that many users would have liked to have. For the idea of how it would work and how it would save us a lot of space, cables and others for Apple device owners.
