We have known for years that Marvel and Sony have had a complicated relationship regarding movie rights related to Spider Man but, second Kevin Feige, the possibility that there may be a crossover with Venom it is not to be excluded.
If until recently the possibility of a meeting between the characters of Sony and those of the MCU was almost impossible, today the speeches can change, especially knowing that the multiverse of Spider Man: No Way Home will bring in Marvel Cinematic Universe some characters from the Sony Universe.
According to Kevin Feige, a crossover between Spider Man and Venom is possible
Due to the pandemic, Sony Pictures’ two flagship films set in the Spider Man universe, Morbius is Venom: Carnage’s Fury, will be released this year, shortly before the arrival in theaters of Spider Man: No Way Home gods Marvel Studios. This factor has destabilized the plans of the two majors to distribute their films at a distance from each other, but has increased the rumors that, before long, we will be able to see a crossover between the two universes.
During an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the president of the Marvel Studios Kevin Feige spoke about the possibility that Venom may finally meet the Spider Man of Tom Holland. Although he has not given a certain answer, he has not ruled out this possibility, knowing that in all his years at Marvel Studios he has seen so many changes and evolutions that he cannot speak for absolute.
Obviously I don’t want to talk about rumors or speculations about what might or might not happen in relation to any character that i Marvel Studios have not yet brought to the screen. But I will say what I have always said, having been at Marvel for 20 years I would not reject anything, I would not exclude anything. When, how and where remains to be seen. Like so many rumors read online, this thing could happen tomorrow as never.
The success achieved with Venom by Sony, combined with that of Spider Man MCU, could create a crossover that many would appreciate. The peculiarity of this situation is that, while Disney has to negotiate with Sony which Spider Man characters it can bring to its universe, Sony is free to use whoever it wants for its films. This means that Venom may not appear in the MCU while Spider Man could make an appearance in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.
The new projects of Marvel Studios, from WandaVision is Loki to get to the next ones Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Spider Man: No Way Home they are inserting the multiverse in large quantities, thus guaranteeing the MCU, in the near future, the possibility of inserting characters from other cinematic universes.
At the moment Sony has all the credentials to make a crossover, while Marvel has the characters most loved by the public to be able to make a successful film. The certainty is that Spider Man: No Way Home it will mark a turning point between these two realities and, from that moment on, everything will be possible.
