MGM wants to recruit thanks to virtual reality

MGM Resorts, a giant in the American hotel industry, will offer its potential recruits the opportunity to try out their future jobs in virtual reality.

The American entertainment and hotel giant thus offers a new kind of experience to its candidates. Rather than presenting its positions with various brochures, slideshows and pitches, the firm has partnered with Strivr, a company specializing in virtual reality. It thus intends to allow job seekers to familiarize themselves with the position in question in a complete VR simulation.

VR, a new HR staple?

With this new system, MGM hopes to reiterate the success it is already having in VR training. Indeed, according to Engadget, MGM is already working with Strivr to train its new recruits in customer interaction. “VR gives them the opportunity to reflect and correct themselves without worrying about having done something wrong”, Enthuses Lee.

MGM hopes to launch this new program as early as January 2022 at its new casino, which is expected to open soon in Osaka, Japan. Engadget specifies that this will be the very first casino to open in the land of the rising sun; It will therefore be an excellent field of experimentation, since Japanese workers are not yet familiar with the positions in question.

Once set up, it will be very interesting to see if other companies develop similar ideas. VR could then become a staple in human resources issues, from recruitment to training, including initial training.
