Microsoft 365 Copilot: Artificial Intelligence enters the office

Microsoft has decided to bring Artificial Intelligence to the office and to office automation tasks. For this it has announced Microsoft 365 Copilota tool that will bring AI to productivity applications at work in the suite. It combines the capabilities of large language models with business data and with Microsoft 365 applications, with the aim of enabling its users to streamline their tasks and improve their productivity.

On the one hand, Microsoft Copilot 365 will be integrated into Microsoft 365 Appssuch as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. In addition, it will offer Business Chat, which works with large language models (LLM), and with which it will be possible to request, through natural language prompts, to generate updates in elements of the Microsoft 365 applications. , among other elements, with email messages, calendar, chats, documents, meetings or contacts of a client.

To work, Business Chat will gather data from documents, presentations, email, calendar, notes, and contacts. In this way, you will have the necessary information to summarize conversations and emails, in addition to locating key dates. You can even write a plan for a project based on the content of various project files.

This new function will be fully integrated into the applications of the Microsoft suite, and its main function will be to free its users from repetitive tasks. In Word, Copilot is able to write, edit, summarize and create content, parallel to the work of users. Microsoft 365 Copilot in PowerPoint makes it easy to create presentations, generating them through natural language commands.

When used in Excel, Microsoft 365 Copilot makes it easy to unlock information. It also identifies trends, and generates professional-looking data visualizations. In Outlook you can facilitate the management of the inbox, in addition to synthesizing it. And in Teams, boost productivity in meetings, with real-time summaries and action points in the context of the conversation. Finally, in Power Platform will help developers speed up development with low-code tools. This will be made possible by two new features in Power Apps and Power Virtual Agents.

The company has created Microsoft 365 Copilot with company data privacy and security in mind. It has also taken into account the principles of Artificial Intelligence and the responsible AI standard proposed by Microsoft. In addition, the company has stressed that Copilot’s large language models are not trained on customer-specific content, nor on individual prompts.
