Microsoft encompasses all its identity and access functions in its new Entra range

Microsoft has announced a new range of services designed to enhance the security of its users. Is about Microsoft Enter, and is actually a family that encompasses all of the company’s identity and access protection products and features. Thus, under it are services such as Azure Active Directory (AD), Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) and Decentralized Identity. With this step, those from Redmond have launched a decentralized system to verify online identities, confirm permissions and guarantee access to users.

Azure Active Directory it’s what handles everything from conditional access to passwordless authentication. Azure AD External Identities, which is responsible for managing B2B and B2C connections, is also part of Entra. The Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management portion that is also part of the range features permissions technology from CloudKnox Security, which Microsoft bought last year, rebranded. Is about Microsoft Enters Permissions Managementwhich will work as a permissions manager on Azure, AWS, and the Google Cloud Platform.

In view of its components, it can be established that Entra is designed to offer access and identity management, as well as cloud infrastructure management and identity verification. Both Entra, as well as a new administration portal associated with Microsoft’s range of identity and access management and security services, are now available.

Of course, some of its services will still take a few weeks to start working. This is the case of its decentralized identity service, Enter Verified ID, which will be available to everyone starting in August. It began development as an incubation project about five years ago, debuting in public test as Azure Active Directory Verifiable Credentials.

With Verified ID, Microsoft ensures that it is implementing standards in the decentralized online identity sector, and among other things, with this service it promises to streamline and facilitate the employee onboarding process. The company is going to try to position Verified ID as an alternative to the unique identification approach of other companies.

This is how they detail it Joy Chik and Vasu Jakkal, both Vice Presidents of Microsoft of areas related to security and identity, in the post announcing the launch of the new range. In it they state that “Instead of granting broad consent to a bunch of apps and services, and spreading identity data across a bunch of providers, Verifies ID lets individuals and organizations decide what information they share, when, with whom, and when. necessary, when they remove it«.

As for its cost, it should be noted that the price system will remain the same, along the lines of Microsoft subscriptions. Pricing will remain the same, with monthly payments per user, for Azure Active Directory and external identities. Verified ID will be part of Azure Active Directory for payments and pricing, and Microsoft will roll out various premium services, at additional cost, for Enter in the future.
