Microsoft has just invited members of the Xbox Insiders program to try several classics from publisher Bethesda. Just reissued, the manufacturer wants to ensure that these titles, some of which were released more than 20 years ago, work without a hitch.
Program members Xbox Insiders have the chance to try features in preview. These privileged users, for example, tested Dolby Vison technology on the Xbox Series X and Series S in May 2021. Recently, Xbox Insiders were able to experiment with a noise suppression feature in voice chat. Convenient to no longer extend your teammate to chew his chips.
However and since July 14, 2022, Microsoft this time invites Xbox Insiders members to test on PC several cult games from the catalog of Bethesda and Id Software. How to Play These Bethesda Classics
To participate, you will of course have to be a member of the Xbox Insiders program, then follow the following steps:
- Login to WindowsPC and launch the app Xbox Insider Hub (or install the Xbox Insider Hub from the store first if needed).
- Navigate to Previews > choose the title of your choice.
- Select Join
- Wait for the registration to be completed to be directed to the store and install the selected game
Iconic games for Xbox Insiders
If you’re wondering why it can’t be played on Xbox, you should know that most of these titles were released in the mid-90s. In fact, they only work through the DOSBox emulator. The Elder Scrolls: Arena is an open-world action RPG developed by Bethesda launched in 1994 in which the player had to explore the kingdom of Tamriel.
As for the series of HeXen games, they were first-person shooters in a dark fantasy universe. They were developed using a modified version of Doom’s graphics engine. We find behind these three games the studio Raven Software, a well-known studio for Call of Duty fans. Indeed, Raven Software has worked on several titles from Activision’s flagship saga such as Call of Duty: WWII or Black Ops Cold War.
Finally, we find at the end of this selection the very good QuakeChampions, competitive FPS that pays homage to the iconic FPS of the 90s from Id Software and Saber Interactive.
