Microsoft messes it up with its latest patch: the browser freezes

In its day it was Internet Explorer, but at the moment the browser that Microsoft is betting on is Edge, specifically the second installment of this software. It is working to, in the future, compete directly with the leader in the sector, although there is still a long way to go.

Thanks to the almost constant updates that the firm sends to improve your browser, this does not stop growing and adapting to the needs of current users. However, as is usual in the world of software, we also come across certain problems and bugs. Recently found a bug in edge which causes the entire program freezes and doesn’t respond.

Specifically, we are referring to an error that causes all open tabs in the program running Internet Explorer mode to stop responding. It is worth mentioning that these failures affect the computers that run Windows 11 in its version 21H2. At the same time it has been possible to see on PCs with Windows 10 versions 20H2, 221H1 and 21H2. Everything indicates that Edge started crashing after installing optional cumulative updates KB5014019, KB5014023, and KB5014021 on these system versions.

It goes without saying that those affected who regularly use this browser mode are facing a major setback. However, the developer Microsoft has wanted to hurry up to solve this problem in its web browser. Let’s start from the base, as we mentioned, that, after installing these Windows updates, the IE mode tabs in Edge could become unresponsivewhich is a serious drawback for many.

Microsoft fixes crash issues in Edge

At this point we will tell you that the software giant has solved this problem in Edge by using the function Known Issue Rollback or KIR. This is a Windows feature designed to help reverse system security fixes. Focuses on bugs that are delivered via Windows Update, as is the case at hand. This means that the solution to the error that we have mentioned is sent through the KIR function for all affected computers.

However, we must bear in mind that said correction may take up to 24 hours to reach our computer. Thus, to solve it on computers with enterprise editions of the system, there is a faster solution. Administrators can install a patch that will be very helpful. This is something that is extensible for Windows 11 and for Windows 10, so we leave you both patch links to download corrections from the firm’s official page.

KB5014019 for Windows 11.

KB5014023 for Windows 10.

We must bear in mind that this program is one of Microsoft’s big bets at the moment. Even more so if we take into account the enormous growth of internet browsers on all types of devices. Therefore, the errors, and more of the seriousness of this one that we are commenting on, must be solved as soon as possible.
