Microsoft releases a major update for Surface Pro X

Microsoft has released an important update for Surface Pro X in its first generation version, that is, this set-up only affects the model equipped with the Microsoft SQ1 chip, and is limited to the version based on Wi-Fi connectivity. It is important to have this clear from the beginning, because if you have the model with the SQ2 SoC, this update will not appear available to you, and it will be totally normal.

The update is broken down into ten driver updates that, All in all, they represent a very important improvement., both in terms of performance and stability, and fixes some bugs that occurred both when connecting to a Wi-Fi network and when using certain settings with the camera. Let’s go over each of those ten updates:

  • Surface Pro X Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC (2×2) Svc – Extension 10400.3.22.0.
  • Surface Panel-Monitor 6.81.139.0.
  • Surface Firmware Update – Firmware 5.50.139.0.
  • Surface Camera AVStream Mini Driver – Cameras 1.0.1660.3.
  • Qualcomm(R) Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC (2×2) Svc – Network adapters 1.0.1720.0.
  • Qualcomm(R) System Manager GPIO Device – System devices 1.0.1600.0.
  • Qualcomm(R) System Manager Device – System devices 1.0.1760.0.
  • Qualcomm(R) Peripheral Image Loader Device – System devices 1.0.1760.0.
  • Qualcomm(R) Adreno(TM) 680 GPU – Display adapters 27.20.1720.0.

As we can see, we have firmware updates and also the Surface Pro X Wi-Fi system, as well as others that focus on the SoC device manager and on the integrated GPU, which is an Adreno 680.

for now no bugs with this update, which means that we can install it with complete confidence, at least in theory, since there is always a small risk that something could have been overlooked. However, even in that case if there were any last minute errors, this should be minor.

If the update still does not appear as available don’t worry, it’s just a matter of time until Microsoft completes a general, global rollout, so be patient.
