If you are a member of the Windows Insider program and you frequently have to make small modifications to files in .jpg, .png or .bmp format, you will be happy to learn that Microsoft has provided Paint with a feature that immerses the image manipulation software in the 21st century.
Despite its soon 40 years of existence, Paint has survived all waves of innovation and Microsoft offers it again and again in all versions of Windows. The Redmond firm had planned to abandon it when Windows 11 was released, but faced, like what is happening today with WordPad, a real outcry. The emblematic little software is therefore still present on our PCs, and the company seems determined to improve it with artificial intelligencelike all the other programs in its software library.
Microsoft announces on its blog that the deployment of a Paint app update for Windows Insiders in Canary and Dev channels (build 11.2306.30.0) started. This update brings an image background removal feature, a tool usually found in more sophisticated graphics editors such as Adobe Photoshop or online on specialized services such as remove.bg, for example.

According to Microsoft, “With Background Removal, you can now automatically remove the background from any image with a single click, leaving a smooth outline of the subject. There background removal can detect the subject on the whole canvas or on a selection using the selection tool “. As you can see from this screenshot, Microsoft has added a button to the program’s menu bar.
In the opinion of many Windows 11 users, Paint is not a thunderbolt when it comes to image editing. It is however the fastest solution available to you if you want to convert the format of an image, crop or resize it with just a few clicks. The ability to erase the background will make this program more indispensable than ever.
