Mitel negotiates to buy Unify, Atos’ unified communications and collaboration area

The company in the corporate communications sector Mitel is negotiating with Atos to stay with Unifywhich includes the areas of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) and Communication and Collaboration Services (CCS) of Athos. The purchase operation, if it occurs, will be subject to consultation with the representative bodies of the company’s workers, as well as the usual regulatory approvals in these cases. If the process continues as planned, the sale could be agreed for the second half of this year 2023.

If the negotiations are successful, Mitel and Unify would form a unified communications company in Europe and America with a customer base of more than 75 million users from more than a hundred countries. In addition, its network of partners would extend to more than 5,500 partners, spread throughout the world.

The operation would also increase Mitel’s reach significantly, and the same would happen with its structure, its billing and the profitability of its business. Your CEO and President, Tarun Loombawould maintain the same positions in the resulting company after the purchase, although for the composition of the board of directors of the sum of Mitel and Unify, its members will be chosen from among the directors of the two companies.

Buying Unify would mean that Mitel would have more capacity to respond to the needs of companies in terms of communications, since it would increase its offer of on-premises, hybrid and private cloud services. In addition, in the future, it will also improve its ability to offer managed services for companies.

This will be possible because Mitel would retain Unify’s voice platforms, as well as its collaboration and contact center products, its range of devices and endpoints, and related Unify intellectual property. On top of all this, Unify would also bring to Mitel a managed services business focused on the digital transformation of enterprise communications environments.

Both have the same marketing approach: through the channel. Therefore, its merger will allow the partners to have a greater offer of resources, products and services, as well as greater flexibility, for the choice of communications model.

According to Tarun Loomba, “the The unified communications industry currently offers significant growth opportunities through mergers and acquisitions, which are a perfect fit with Mitel’s strategy and experience. The addition of Unify’s offering, partners and talent would significantly expand Mitel’s scale and offering, allowing us together to offer customers even more choice and greater flexibility throughout their business communications lifecycle.”

Loomba has also stressed that the purchase agreement they are negotiating creates great value.”for customers, partners, investors and employees. The Mitel and Unify channel partner communities provide a rich experience to guide customers in their goal to communicate and collaborate more effectively, especially in this new world of hybrid work. Together, our portfolios and community of channel partners will help customers around the world leverage communications in ways that best suit their needs and grow them.”
