This is how Motorola 2021 remote wireless charging works

The future of the wireless charging will not involve charging pads. There is currently a race among hardware vendors to be the first to make it happen. Several companies have promised to offer contactless wireless charging for years, and some have even demonstrated prototypes at tech shows like CES . Today Xiaomi showed a technical demonstration of its “Mi Air Charge” air charging technology. However, Motorola also debuted its own work today on remote wireless charging .

Motorola Wireless Remote Charging

A Motorola executive traveled today to Weibo to share a video showing a prototype remote charging station branded “Motorola One Hyper”. Be careful, this should not be confused with the smartphone of the same name. In the video, which we have incorporated below, it shows two Android mobiles charging at distances of 80 cm and 100 cm. These phones resemble the Motorola Edge, but it is unclear what, if any, modifications have been made to them.

video continues with a demonstration of how charging stops when a person’s hand is placed in front of the charging station. This shows that Motorola designed the system to stop charging when it detects that a person is moving in front of the station , probably for health reasons.

Unlike Xiaomi, Motorola does not seem share additional details on how your remote wireless charging technology works. The company taunts users on Weibo asking if they’d like to see the technology in a future Edge series mobile. However, have not confirmed if they are ready to bring this to a commercial product . The structural and implementation issues that need to be overcome are well understood, so we are definitely interested in how Motorola is addressing this issue.
