As you may know, the Gigafactory in Berlin opened its doors in early April 2022, after several months of delay. This new state-of-the-art production site is notably in charge of manufacturing the new Tesla Model Ys for the European market.

They are also designed by an army of robots, as Tesla revealed in the video. As a reminder, the new Model Y is currently available in France in two versions: namely, the Grande Autonomie model, offered at €62,990 and the performance versiondisplayed at a price of €66,990.

Appellation Performance requires, this version precisely promises top-flight performance thanks to its nearly 500 horsepower powertrain. According to Tesla, the Tesla Model Y Performance boasts a top speed of 250 km/hwhile it would be able to reach 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. On the autonomy side, the manufacturer promises 514 km in WLTP.

He reaches 250 km/h aboard his Model Y in less than a minute

The owner of a Tesla Model Y Performance straight out of the Gigafactory decided to check out Tesla’s bitumen promises. To do this, the driver drove on a stretch of German autobahn without a speed limit. Taking the start from the exit ramp of a motorway service area, he presses the accelerator pedal to try to reach the announced maximum speed as quickly as possible.

After reaching 100 km/h in just 4.12 (a little more than what Tesla claims), the driver actually reaches the top speed of 250 km/h in 42.77 seconds. However, he manages to maintain this pace for only a fraction of a second, the car immediately starting to slow down. It should be remembered that at this speed, energy consumption is at its peak, and autonomy drops drastically. Whatever one may say, this video is further proof of the performance that electric vehicles can offer.
