Director Roland Emmerich is about to return to the cinema with a new disaster movie titled Moonfall and judging by the first 5 minutes released online in these hours, things look like they are going to go downhill very quickly.

At the beginning of the film, astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) is out on a spacewalk repairing some satellite stuff and talking about the lyrics of Toto’s classic rock “Africa” ​​with his colleague Alan Marcus ( Frank Fiola) and his fellow astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry), when suddenly he is hit by a mysterious space wave from the Moon.

Here is the official synopsis of Moonfall:

The moon. Check out our nights, days, seasons and tides of the oceans. And, since the dawn of humanity, its phases have represented a symbol of enlightenment, inner knowledge and our immortality. Until now. Suddenly and without warning, a mysterious force throws the moon out of orbit and sends it on a collision course with life as we know it.

A few weeks after the impact, and against everything and everyone, a ramshackle team embarks on an impossible desperate mission into space, leaving behind all their loved ones and risking everything to land on the lunar surface, discover its secrets and save the planet from destruction. But first they will have to fight against an unknown and inscrutable power, which will question everything we know about the moon.

The film, made with a budget of over 100 million dollars, is based on a screenplay written by director Roland Emmerich in 2012, in collaboration with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen.

Moonfall will hit theaters on February 4, 2022.
