Motherboards for Intel with B760 chipset will be released on January 5, 2023

Intel is willing to stomp with Raptor Lake, not only in the high ranges, but also with mid-range processors that aim to represent a significant qualitative leap compared to Alder Lake. With this scenario, the motherboards with the B760 chipset They begin to appear on the horizon to presumably provide a floor according to those equipment oriented to domestic environments.

Seeing that the prices of the motherboards have been one of the factors in the commercial failure of Ryzen 7000, possibly more than one sees with interest the models destined specifically for Intel’s Raptor Lake. Here we find contradictory information, with one saying that the price of B760 motherboards will go up slightly compared to the previous generation (B660) and another saying that in the case of MSI they could be even cheaper. Of course, seeing the convulsive context of multiple crises in which we live, the situation can lead to a succession of caroms that who knows what result it will lead to once the products begin to be marketed in the Eurozone.

On the one hand it is said that, at general levels, the prices of the B760 motherboards could be around 14-15 dollars more expensive than the B660, while on the other it is said that the PRO B760-A WIFI DDR4 and B760 models MSI’s I EDGE WIFI would cost $169 and $209 respectively, making them around 10% cheaper than its predecessors with the B660 chipset.

General Chipset Specifications for Intel Raptor Lake

Changing the chipset, it seems that the situation around the H770, oriented to the mid-range (the B760 is more entry-level), is not entirely clear, although the ASUS TUF Gaming H770-PRO motherboard was leaked a few days ago. WiFi with an alleged price of 265.82 euros.

Compared to the top-of-the-range and widely visible Z790 chipset, the H770 and B760 models may see a reduced number of PCIe lanes supported, a narrower DMI channel, or a lack of some features, including the ability to advanced of overclock. Despite this, and depending on the profile and the needs of the user, it is possible that they are ultimately better optionssince with a higher range motherboard the same thing would be obtained and on top of that paying more.

The new lines of boards with the 700 series chipsets aimed at cheaper products would begin to be marketed from January 5, 2023, coinciding with the launch of Intel’s Raptor Lake generation “non-K” processors. Of course, in an extreme case it is very likely that Raptor Lake can be used just by updating the firmware of a motherboard for Alder Lake, since Intel has made the decision to recycle the socket and continue supporting DDR4.
