Meanwhile, a competitor in the foldable space, Motorola has similarly been offering its own foldable devices in a similar form factor for a very long time. However, due to a number of very different reasons, Motorola’s products were quite inferior to the options offered by Samsung. But be that as it may, Motorola, apparently, does not intend to give up, because this brand is preparing in the very near future to release another device in the Razr line. It’s important to note that the original Motorola Razr debuted back in late 2019, shortly after Samsung’s Galaxy Fold first hit the market, and months before the Galaxy Z Flip debuted.
The company’s foldable device, as you may know, had a pretty neat hinge to minimize creases and a nostalgic design. But what many immediately criticized about it was the level of durability, the camera, and also the lack of power. A year later, the company updated its Razr with an improved design, more modern specs, and 5G support. However, even this did not save the device, because in comparison with the Galaxy Z Flip series, it still sold rather poorly. In the same year, Samsung released its next Galaxy Z Flip 3, which immediately won the hearts of many users thanks to its $ 999 price tag, water resistance, and relatively small form factor. This led to a really great popularity in some regions.
Motorola, on the other hand, has not released anything this year, which has led many to believe that the company has decided not to try to prove itself in this field anymore. However, it is important to inform that the official representative of Lenovo – the current owner of Motorola – recently announced on Chinese social networks that a new version of the third-generation foldable Motorola Razr will appear on the market next year. In this post, the main focus was on the fact that the folding system, which Motorola engineers are going to use in the case of the upcoming new product, will be significantly different from its predecessors.
