With this new agreement between the over-the-top (OTT) platform and Telefónica, Movistar Plus + will have all the rights of LaLiga Santander during the five seasons, being able to offer the 10 games of each day both in Spain and in Andorrawithin its corresponding payment method.

the blue attendant has already contacted the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) to report that the five games he bought together with the three exclusive days, which are priced at 520 million euros per season, which translates into a saving of 7% of the cost per day.

To this must be added the 280 million euros of the agreement with DAZN, so the total that will be paid will be 800 million per season, orA figure much lower than the 980 million that LaLiga calculated, or the 1,030 million euros that Telefónica was paying until now.

With it, Telefónica will be able to broadcast all the matches of each day for the next five years. With a customer base for football of 1.5 million, who have to hire the premium content package, make the deal quite profitable. In addition, at the end of the year they reached a similar agreement in which Movistar Plus+ could incorporate different sports packages (Moto GP, Premier League and Basketball Euroleague) in exchange for the rights to Formula 1.

All the rumors suggest that the reason why Telefónica has decided to make such a large investment is due to the loss of customers that the blue operator is suffering. And it is that the telecommunications giant has lost nearly 350,000 clients in recent years, which has caused alarm bells to go off in the upper area and they are seeking to recover them with one of the greatest entertainments at the national level: soccer.
