Ms Marvel is the next series from Marvel Studios. It will feature a brand new character who will certainly have a lot of importance in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We take stock of what you need to know about this highly anticipated adventure.
In 2021, Marvel Studios launched its series on Disney+. The first four featured supporting characters from the movies (Wanda, Falcon, Loki, Hawkeye), but in 2022, the tone changed. In effect, these are new characters who are honored.
After Moon Knight, it’s the turn of Ms Marvel to have the right to its series. The latter not only allows you to explore a new facet of the MCU, but introduces a character who is destined to become one of the pillars of the future of Marvel Studios.
In this file, we have compiled everything there is to know about this event series. Release date, cast, future of the character, we tell you everything!
When will the Ms Marvel series air?
Ms Marvel will air from June 8, 2022 on the Disney+ platform. Disney has a habit of only having one big Marvel series at a time. At the time of this writing, Moon Knight is on the bill. Ms Marvel will take over in early June. Note that it will encroach on the broadcast of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars), which begins on May 27. However, the latter will not be available the same day, since its episodes will be posted on Friday.
How often will Ms Marvel air?
While Netflix releases all episodes of a series at once, Disney works differently. From June 8, we will have the right to one episode per week, every Wednesday.
This method of dissemination has two objectives: first, to create a continual hype with the viewers. This is the famous phenomenon of the coffee machine debrief. Then, broadcasting a series over the long term makes it possible to keep subscribers longer. These last ones binge not all in a weekend and don’t deactivate their subscription once it’s over.
Ms Marvel will have how many episodes?
All Marvel Studios Series operate on cycles of six episodes (except WandaVision which had a particular format). Ms Marvel will be no exception. The last episode of the series will therefore arrive on Wednesday, July 13.
Who will be in the cast of Ms Marvel?
For its new series, Disney has bet on a cast composed actors little known to the general public, even totally novices. Our heroine, Kamala Khan, is played by the young Iman Vellani. This is the very first role of the Canadian actress.
On the screen, we will also find Matt Lintz in the role of Bruno Carrelli (the friend of Kamala), Rish Shah in that of Kamran (the crush of Kamala) and Zenobia Shroff in the role of the mother of the heroine. No ultra-known heads therefore, as was the case for Moon Knight, which features Oscar Isaac.

For the moment, there is no indication that the series will welcome guest stars from the MCU. But it takes place partly in New York, the vacation spot of many heroes. Everything is possible and all bets are open. For our part, we’re putting a coin on a Captain Marvel cameo, played by Brie Larson. After all, Kamala is a heroine fan!
Ms Marvel, what is it about?
Ms Marvel, aka Kamala Khan in everyday life, is a fairly recent heroine in the history of Marvel comics. Created in 2014, it quickly became the symbol of the new wind of inclusivity and representation that was blowing at the publisher at that time (just like Miles Morales). Of Pakistani origin and Muslim religion, Kamala is a young girl who lives in New Jersey and who has the same concerns as all American teenagers, which quickly makes her popular with readers. One day, she discovers incredible powers: she is able to extend her limbs and enlarge them as needed. The character seduced the crowds from his first appearance. In its Avengers game released in 2020, Square Enix even made it a central character.
For its MCU version, Marvel Studios chose to slightly modify its powers, which seem more “cosmic”. This time the girl gets them via an artifact found in his attic. She’s also a big fan of Captain Marvel, which explains her similar costume.
The trailer promises us a very teen movielike the last Spider-Man.
What future for Ms Marvel within the MCU?
Obviously, the question of a season 2 to Ms Marvel arises. For the moment, nothing is planned in this direction. Nevertheless, the character will continue to be exploited in the future, let the fans be reassured!
The movie The Marvels (2023), which will serve as the sequel to Captain Marvel, will feature a team consisting of Carol Danvers, but also of our Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau (appeared in WandaVision). The Ms Marvel series will therefore serve as an introduction to the character, who will have the right to the big screen thereafter.
Ms Marvel is no special case. Marvel Studios has indeed a habit to reuse characters or events from the series in the films. We can, for example, mention the appearance of Matt Murdoch (Daredevil) in No Way Home, the introduction of the concept of the multiverse in Loki, which was later taken up in the films of phase 4, or even the presence of the Scarlet Witch (WandaVision) in Doctor Strange 2.
And after Ms Marvel, what is there?
Once Ms Marvel airs, another series will replace it. If Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced it yet, chances are it’s She-Hulk. Here, it will be Tatiana Maslany who will hold the title role. No release date yet, but we’re not taking any chances saying it will be released before the end of 2022.
Other series are to be expected later: Secret Invasion, Iron Heart, Echo or even Agatha House of Harkness. Of course, the MCU will also continue in the cinema. Many films are planned. In bulk, we can mention Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Ant-Man 3 or Black Panther 2.
