MSI markets a quantum dot OLED monitor and advanced features

MSI is expanding its line of computer monitors with a model with impressive features, confirming the increasing use of OLED panels in high-end display screens.

This is the MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED, the first monitor from the Taiwanese manufacturer that combines organic panels of 10-bit light-emitting diodes and technology Quantum Dot (QD) that allows better lighting control and provides the advantage of reducing burn-in of other types of OLED panels. The monitor is similar to the Philips Evnia that we presented to you last week and the truth is that it looks spectacular with its narrow bezels on three sides.

It features an 1800R radius curved OLED display with 34 inches diagonally. A widescreen with 21:9 aspect ratio and UWQHD native resolution for 3440 x 1440 pixels. Users who focus on games should know that it supports AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro image synchronization technology to offer a refresh rate of up to 175hz and a GtC minimum response time of 0.1 millisecond.

Although gaming is its main focus, it would be a waste to use it just for that, since it has features that enable it for other uses. To highlight its maximum brightness of 1000 nits, the certification for DisplayHDR True Black 400 and a wide support for the main color palettes, 97.8% of Adobe RGB, 99.3% of DCI-P3 and 139.1% of sRGB, plus factory calibrated for a Delta E less than 2.

The MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED includes the SpectrumBar, which is not only a lightbar that supports RGB lighting effects through the Mystic light function, but also features a new Glow Sync function that allows the lightbar to be automatically sync with the content displayed. Added features like gaming intelligence and the OLED Care feature are other examples of software meant to squeeze the hardware.

It has an ergonomic base that supports height adjustment and offers a complete number of ports, Display Port and the most advanced version of HDMI (2.1), so this monitor can also be used with the most advanced consoles, PS5 and Xbox X Series. It includes additional features such as a USB port hub and a KVM switch to connect peripherals and manage multiple PCs with them.

MSI will start selling the monitor in early March in selected countries. We do not know the price and with these specifications it will not be cheap, but you have to see the ‘level’ that computer monitors are reaching.
