MU the Brand: the Spanish company that promotes high-quality sustainable sneakers

Business success made in Spain. The startup MU the brand, founded by Alicia López-Ulloa and Ángela Martín, in the midst of a pandemic, has been able to create a quality national footwear product, valuing Spanish leather and promoting close, sustainable and responsible trade.

The sneakers “MU” are a product of high quality made of 100% Spanish leather and with local production. In addition, they have a design unisex and minimalist attention to the smallest detail and totally timeless. these slippers made in Spain, They use an innovative system of thermo-confortable insole with gel and lined with microlining that make them very comfortable and totally breathable.

The brand bets on the slow-fashion with serial and limited runs that are also customizable, and is based on 4 clear and differential principles:

For its production, the brand relies on the help of a factory located in Elche with experience in the footwear sector since 1947 and that in recent years has seen its production reduced due to the relocation of the manufacture of large brands and “MU” has made a strong commitment and is confident of being able to recover one of the industries with more tradition of our country: footwear “Made in Spain”.

The founders are friends from the university and, during the break suffered by the confinement, they began to reflect, feeling the desire to do something that was really motivating. A short time later, both coincided in a period of sick leave, Ángela due to a kitesurfing injury and Alicia due to her motherhood, at which time they decided to embark on this adventure in which they have been able to launch a brand in the midst of a pandemic. Y working 100% remotely from different countries, one in Spain and the other in Turkey.

“As engineers we are restless, practical and we are always in a continuous search process. We were analyzing the different industries in Spain and we found a good opportunity in the footwear sector” comments Ángela Martín, co-founder of “MU the Brand”, who adds: “We believe that sneakers are undoubtedly post-pandemic footwear, there is no one on the street who does not wear one.”

Alicia López-Ulloa, the other half of “MU”, highlights: “We have focused on 4 basic pillars: product, concept, shopping experience and practicality, all of them learned during our previous work stage. “MU” is not just another brand of sneakers, we pay attention to detail, to quality and we offer a limited product produced in Spain and manufactured with 100% made in Spain materials”

On the other hand, influencers like @elshowthebritten and @lookfortime support this brand that stands out for having, in addition to a high-quality product that has been cared for down to the smallest detail, a simple online shopping experience with a free home return policy, which has meant that in just three months there is a waiting list for some models.

In addition, “MU” is currently immersed in the preparation of the launch of new models for the spring/summer season and the design of a children’s line, together with the opening of new physical distribution channels, in order to bring its principles of sustainability, design and comfort at all the feet of Spain.
