netflix gaming france

Netflix has just announced the arrival of its first mobile games in France. After several months of testing and availability limited to a handful of countries, Netflix Gaming is available for all French subscribers since Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Note that the games have not yet appeared for all users in the country. The deployment of the novelty is however underway in France.

What price ?

This new feature is open to all packageswhether you opted for the standard subscription or the premium subscription with 4K included, at no extra cost. “There are no ads, extra charges, or in-app purchases”, promises the streaming leader. This is quite rare for 100% free mobile games.

What devices are compatible with Netflix Gaming?

First, Netflix Gaming is limited to Android smartphones and tablets. Subscribers who use an Android smartphone will see a section dedicated to games and a tab dedicated to titles to download. On tablets, this tab is replaced by the Categories drop-down menu, where the available games will appear.

If you watch movies and series from the Netflix catalog on an iPad or iPhone, you are not forgotten. The games are all compatible with iOS. On the other hand, the games are not directly accessible from the Netflix application. Blame it on Apple, which prevents developers from hosting in their own applications. As a result, Netflix must offer its own directly on the App Store.

What are the top 5 games available with Netflix Gaming?

For starters, Netflix is making available a total of 5 video games. Unsurprisingly, some of the mobile games are inspired by one of the streaming platform’s hit series, Stranger Things. Here is the list of the 5 games available at launch:

  • Stranger Things: 1984
  • Stranger Things 3: The Game
  • Shooting Hoops
  • Card Blast
  • Teeter Up

As the title suggests, the first two games are inspired by Stranger Things. In Stranger Things: 1984, subscribers can embody one of the 12 characters of the cult series and face a horde of monsters from the upside down world. Note that the game has been available since 2019 and it is not necessary to have a Netflix subscription to get it from the Play Store (which is not the case for the others). more cerebral, Stranger Things 3: The Game will delight fans of puzzles and puzzles.

Netflix also offers three original games, unrelated to a series in its catalog. Shooting Hoops is a fairly basic basketball game that challenges subscribers to get balls into a basket using darts. On his side, Card Blast is a poker game mixed with a puzzle card game. Finally, Teeter Up is a simple game where you have to slide a ball into a hole by moving certain elements.

Obviously, Netflix does not intend to stop there. The streaming giant was committed from the start to expand the catalog of mobile games available on its platform in the months and years to come. “We want to build a library of games that meets the desires of each and every one of you. This is the beginning for us of a great gaming experience”, said Netflix, whose ambitions are not limited to mobile games. It is rumored that the number 1 of VOD would seek to launch games on other platforms.

We see with Asphalt Xtreme that Netflix also wants to partner with studios and strong mobile gaming licenses. Here is the full list of additional titles arriving after launch:

  • Bowling Ballers
  • Asphalt Xtreme
  • Wonderputt Porever
  • Knittens
  • Dominoes Cafe
  • Krispee Street

Security and Parental Controls

The streaming giant clarifies that mobile video games are only not available for youth accounts intended for children. “If you have set up a PIN to prevent children from accessing adult profiles, you will need to use it in order to connect to Netflix and play”, warns the company. To access the games, it is easier to go through an adult account, without parental control.

Internet connection required?

Finally, some of the games require an internet connection to run. This is the case of the 2 Stranger Things games that have just arrived in the catalog.
