That’s it, it’s time to discover all the Netflix-stamped films that will be released on the platform in 2023. In total, 48 original films will be available this year, which is significantly less than in 2022. We have you prepared a small selection of those not to be missed.
If Netflix is generally not reluctant to cancel series, the series continues to produce original content en masse. Series therefore, but also films which, each year, join the catalog of the platform by the dozens. Last year, 88 Netflix-stamped films were broadcast. In 2023, the streaming giant has scaled back its ambitions, with a total of 48 original films planned for this year.
Some already have a release date set, while others don’t even have a title yet. This is particularly the case of an adaptation of a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl, the writer behind Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a project led by none other than Wes Anderson. Much less titles therefore, but all the same nearly half a hundred films announced among which it can be difficult to find the rare pearl. That’s good, we have prepared a small selection for you.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
The highly anticipated sequel to Chicken Run will be produced by Netflix! After escaping from the Tweedy farm, Ginger now lives the dream life on an island she shares with Rocky and her daughter Molly. But the chicken community finds itself forced to return to the mainland and even, this time, to infiltrate the farm.
Tyler Rake 2 (June 16, 2023)
Chris Hemworth is back as Tyler Rake for twice the action! This time, the Australian special agent is responsible for extracting the family of a dangerous gangster from the prison where they are being held. Netflix does not go out of its way to describe the film: we will have to expect a lot more tension and breathtaking scenes.
Heart of Stone (August 11, 2023)
Another big action thriller this year, Heart of Stone is this time worn by Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). It is the actress herself who says it: the film is announced “extremely epic”. She plays Rachel Stone, an agent in a secret organization charged with protecting one of her most valuable assets. Suspense, chases and explosions will be there.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (March 10)
Luther will finally be entitled to his film. The latter will continue the adventures of the detective from the famous TV series, who now finds himself behind bars after the failure of his standoff against the nemesis of season 5. Meanwhile, the crime does not wait, since a new series of violent murders hits London, prompting Luther to escape to take matters into his own hands.
Pamela, A Love Story (January 23)
After the resounding success of the semi-biopic series Pam and Tommy on Disney+, Netflix is in turn interested in the sulfurous actress of the 1990s. This new documentary traces the rise of Pamela Anderson, as well as the media relentlessness that she suffered after her revelation to the general public.
Rebel Moon (December 22)
Zack Snyder’s next movie (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman) will be set in space. This will follow the story of a colony settled peacefully on the edge of the galaxy, whose tranquility will be disturbed by the Regent Balisarius, a dangerous dictator at the head of a huge army. Kora, a young adventurer with a troubled past, is then tasked with calling on neighboring planets for help.
Spaceman (Fall 2023)
We know little about this other science fiction film to join the Netflix catalog in 2023, except for its very promising cast: Adam Sandler (Uncut Gems, Funny People), Carey Mulligan (Drive, Promising Young Woman) , Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will be Blood) or even Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory). Its synopsis teases a relationship between a lonely astronaut and a strange mythical creature.
