Netflix would be working on a direct function

We have been thinking for a few weeks how complicated things are on Netflix, following the publication of the latest results and the more than worrying short-term predictions. The dean of movie and series streaming services is facing, at the same time, a growing and powerful competition, and the need to propose changes in terms of its content, at a time when in-house production is a key factor to the company.

We find its strong point, of course, in the cinema and especially in the series, but for some time now we have seen how Netflix diversified its offer, going on to also include documentaries and comedy specials. At first they did it to enrich their offer and, along the way, also to compensate for the loss of content from third parties, which have been opening their own platforms and, understandably, have taken them to them.

Now, however, the main reason to diversify even more is to attract new customers, given that some of those who have been customers for years have decided to change their Netflix subscription for other platforms. As we can read in Deadline, it seems that a very interesting change is coming in this regard, since Netflix would be studying the possibilities to carry out live broadcasts.

Netflix would be working on a direct function

One of the most notorious losses in the Netflix catalog in recent times has been the titles of the Marvel franchises, recovered by Disney to bring them to their own service, Disney +. And this is more interesting if we take into account that, in a matter of weeks, we are faced with two novelties in Netflix plans that, if we review the news of recent months, we see that they can have a clear inspiration in Disney +.

And it is that if it is now that Netflix is considering testing live broadcasts, we must remember that only a little over three months ago Disney + also began its tests in this regard. And, on the other hand, Disney reported its plans to create a cheaper and ad-supported subscription plan. And although Neflix’s immediate response was to affirm that they did not consider it, in the two months that have passed not only have they changed their minds about itis that they have even considered stepping on the accelerator to incorporate this new measure as soon as possible.

It does not seem, yes, that Netflix’s plans in terms of live shows are also those of Disney +, which would point to cultural and sporting events, but to unscripted series and comedy specials, that is, more own production. A proposal that, at least a priori, is most interesting.
