New AMD Ryzen 5000 for this month: 5800X3D, 5700X, 5600 and 5500

The arrival of the Intel Core 12 has disrupted the line of desktop Ryzen 5000 CPUs and until now it seemed that AMD was going to respond only with its 5800X3D. However, it seems that they are going to respond with three other processors, among which the Ryzen 7 5700X stands out, but it would not be the only one, since we would also see the 5600 and 5500 models.

The world of hardware is very complicated, to the high costs it must be added that the value perceived by users is related to the performance obtained by it. That is why in the war between Intel and AMD it is important to get better performance than the rival in order to set the highest prices and obtain higher margins.

The differences between the performance of the Ryzen 5000 and the Core 12 give the latter an advantage over the former, which leads to Lisa Su’s company being at a disadvantage. An informed user looking for performance for price is going to go for the models of an Intel that is taking advantage of its vertical integration as a designer and manufacturer to recover market share from AMD. This would have led the three-letter brand to launch new Ryzen 5000 models, such as the 5700X.

5700X, 5600, 5500 and 5800X3D would be the new Ryzen 5000

5500 has the same price as 12100, 5600 will be cheaper than 12400, and 5700X will be cheaper than 12600KF.

The Ryzen 5000 series of CPUs belonging to the Vermeer architecture seemed to be saying their last word with the presentation of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with V-Cache. However, everything would point to AMD launching four new variants if we count this processor, which we have already talked about at length in several articles.

About him Ryzen 7 5700X this appears to be a clocked down version of the 5800X and by as many will be 8 cores and 16 threads. From its name we deduce that it is going to be placed a little below the 5800 model that is currently only sold to manufacturers and assemblers of computers and not as a separate commercial product. The rumors do not talk about its specifications, but it does have a cLower user cost than Core i5-12600KF. Can we expect a base clock speed of 3.3 GHz and a Turbo of 4.5 GHz? Before the end of the month we will clear up any doubts.

The other two chips are the Ryzen 5 5600 and 5500, both 6 cores. The first will be sold for a lower price than i5-12400 from Intel, this being a strong statement of intent. While the second will lack the SMT capabilities of the first, remaining only in 6 execution threads and will have a price below the i3-12100.

The swan song of the AM4 chipset?

AMD-Ryzen-AM4

Since this year’s CES we have confirmed from AMD that the Ryzen 7000 under the 5nm node, Zen 4 architecture, use of DDR5, PCI Express 5.0 and the new AM5 socket will appear later this year. So we could think that these would be the last processors under said chipset. And it could well be so, since it depends on AMD’s decision to launch a Ryzen 6000 for the AM4 socket that could arrive under the name of Ryzen 6000G, but could also end up being sold for the OEM market.

In any case, and in conclusion, this is the expected effect of healthy competition, that AMD and Intel monitor each other so that one does not consolidate in the market, rest on its laurels and end up offering us products at a premium for the lack of competition and with little evolution at the architecture level.
