New patent that would make the iMac a revolutionary device

A new patent filed by the American company imagines a new iMac. Thinner and with more capacity but above all that has a single sheet of glass on its screen. That would mean many things but above all a total redesign and some new functions. We would talk about the possibility of the existence of single layer curved glass with an embedded screen.

The iMac is a work of art and engineering. In such a thin screen, Apple is able to fit all the necessary components of a powerful and efficient computer. The design and engineering team behind this work of art does not rest and they are always thinking and imagining new concepts and designs with which to improve what seems unbeatable. That’s why with this new registered patentwe speak of a screen that has a single layer or sheet of glass.

The patent is called «Electronic Device with Glass Housing Member«, Apple explores new forms of iMac design and specifications. The patent would consist of that sheet with a curved lower part on one edge, where the desk would sit and which would serve to place the inputs of the different devices that were attached to it. It would also have a larger flat area that would include the screen. Interestingly, the screen would be attached to the back of the glass, and could include a connection for an iSight camera in its usual place above the screen.

However. Being a single piece, the curved part would not be enough to keep the device standing. This is why Apple thinks that a wedge section should be added to balance. A wedge that could also have device inputs. The wedge would also serve to adjust the overall angle.

A good idea that may not come to fruition, because it is a patent does not mean that it will be a reality. Only time will determine if it becomes a reality or not. What is clear is that the idea is Apple and may be the first to carry it out.
