The new Tesla Model 3 and Model Y of 2022 will not entirely revolutionize the electric vehicles of the manufacturer, but they will offer all the same some improvements welcome. We can notably cite a slight increase in range thanks to slightly larger batteries, and the two electric cars will be stocked with new features.

According to some customers who have received the Model 3 and Model Y 2022 in the United States, the new versions were equipped with a new AMD Ryzen processor which was already present on the Tesla Model S and Model X of 2021. The latter replaces the old Intel Atom A3950 chip, and promises to make the infotainment system of the cheapest electric cars of the manufacturer much faster.

According to the first comparative tests between the performance of the AMD Ryzen chip on a Tesla Model Y and the old Intel Atom A3950 chip, the new processor is much faster than its predecessor. Indeed, AMD’s chip would make the system much smoother and faster. It would not be necessary only 4 seconds to open a video on demand application Chinese on the main screen, compared to 17 seconds with the Intel chip.

Chinese social network Bilibili could also search in just 7 seconds with the AMD Ryzen chip, compared to 24 seconds with the Intel chip. On the navigation map, roads are also displayed faster with the new processor, and scrolling through the different applications is also smoother.

Finally, the first owners of the 2022 versions of the Model 3 and Model Y also noticed that Tesla changed the low-capacity battery of the two vehicles. It is now a 12 V lithium-ion battery, which will better power all essential vehicle systems.
