Nintendo is one of the most popular video game publishers in the world, behind cult licenses such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, StarFox, Metroid Prime, Pokémon and even F-Zero. BigN has millions of fans around the globe, and some of them are paying homage to the Japanese company with great projects, like this Zelda fan who recreated the entire NES game map with 25,000 LEGO bricks .

Well, we must also recognize that thehe relationship between fans and Nintendo is sometimes… complicated. Nintendo doesn’t really like it when these licenses are exploited without permission, even if the project in question is a declaration of love for the company’s games. Nintendo, for example, recently filed 500 complaints against a YouTube channel that broadcast music from the publisher’s cult games. In April 2022, Nintendo is also remembered to have tracked down fans posting theories about the Super Mario movie storyline.

But today’s story is quite different. A big lover of Nintendo games spent more than $40,000 in builder stock. The reason ? After buying a pack of shares (100 shares), he had the opportunity to attend Nintendo’s annual shareholders’ meeting. We confirmed to him that as a “bonus”, he might have the opportunity to ask a question to the company’s board of directors.

This fan was thus able to ask Shuntaro Furukawa, the current president of Nintendo, if the company had considered reviving certain franchises that had been dormant for too long, such as F-Zerothe famous series of futuristic racing games (no new F-Zero games have been released since 2004).

The CEO took the time to respond to the player : “It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game people request, but we are very grateful and appreciate our fans’ expectations for our games” , assured Shuntaro Furukawa.

Managing Director China Takahashi added that Nintendo had been regularly asked to develop remakes and new titles, which were already on the way in great secrecy. “We can’t tell you if there are any plans for future remakes of a specific game, but, during development, we’re always thinking about various possibilities for players to enjoy.” In other words, we must keep hope for a possible remake or new episode of F-Zero.
