Nintendo fights against this YouTube channel that broadcasts game music

A recidivist Internet user is once again pinned by Nintendo, and blocks all his videos containing music from games.

Who has never worked or just chilled with the music of Zelda, Animal Crossing or mario in the ears? Whether in playlists devoted to relaxation, concentration or even the pure fun of remembering our childhood games, the famous melodies from Nintendo licenses are a safe bet for anyone who wants to combine nostalgia and music. However, Nintendo does not see this very favorably.

Indeed, just on streaming listening platforms, it is relatively complicated to get your hands on an official track from a Nintendo game. This is why the firm intends to apply the same treatment to YouTube, which hosts many channels exclusively broadcasting this kind of music, often in the form of compilations. This is particularly the case of the chain of GilvaSunner.

The Internet user, who usually publishes videos containing all the tracks of a specific game, posted a preview of his mailbox, literally filled with copyright requests from YouTube and Nintendo. In total, the person has indeed received more than 1300 copyright requests, and has seen a significant number of his videos being blocked following Nintendo’s request. A situation that is getting worse hour by hour, and which risks spreading to many other creators.

A heavy past with Nintendo

The story between the youtubeur and Nintendo is not new. In 2019 already, a ton of requests had been made by Nintendo, the Internet user is therefore what we can call a repeat offender. However, he complains that no alternative is offered to people in his situation to allow them to broadcast music from games, especially since his videos are not monetized, so they bring (almost) nothing to the youtuber.

Indeed, we must not forget that the views also bring a small sum of money to the channels. Of course, in this case Nintendo is within its rights, and the Internet user recognizes this. However, fans are slightly disappointed that the firm is blocking so much for simply recreational content, which rightly pays homage to the studio’s history. For this time, the list of blocked albums on the GilvaSunner channel is as follows:

  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Super Smash Bros Melee
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl
  • Yoshi’s Island
  • Super Mario Land
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Super Mario World
  • New Super Mario Bros.
  • Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
  • Mario 3D World
