Not even China will sell its processors to Russia, what are they hiding?

The recent invasion of the Ukraine by Russia has caused many companies to stop supplying components to the Russians. Due to these restrictions, Russia would have asked China for the supply of Loongon processors. Well, this may just be closed by Chinathat prohibits exportn of these components.

China has long been working on the development of its own processors. Currently, they already have several solutions in this area, the most prominent being Loongson processors. Little is known about these processors, since they would be mainly for internal use and thus stop depending on US companies.

China will not sell its processors to Russia

The general media Kommersant, has cited sources close to the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia and electronic commerce. They say the Chinese government has Banned the supply of Loongson processors to Russiaamong other countries.

They are not very clear reasons for which these processors have been discontinued. Most likely the production is reduced and these chips are mostly used in the military field and industry. Due to domestic demand and low production, it would not be feasible to sell to other countries.

really, this No supposes a great problem for Russia, At least in the short term. There are few Chinese chips that they would have distributed to the Russians, without real dependence for this country on said processors. What worries really are the parallel imports from other processors within a gray market.

Russia has a lot of international sanctions to limit their capacities and sink their economy. This makes Intel or AMD cannot sell its members in this country, even if they want to. But, Russia buy them in a gray market, buying from neighboring countries without sanctions.

It should be noted that Russia intended to increase the use of Loongson processors in the future. So, for the moment, this option is completely ruled out, at least at the moment. If China manages to improve the production of these processors, it could resume sales to third countries.

Hard to see these components outside of China

Here is a strong intersection of interests between the United States and China, immersed in a major trade war. The United States does not want to lose its dominance in the hardware market and China wants to be independent.

We have seen how China, in recent years, has worked to create its own components. Recently, they have shown off their first graphics cards intended for gaming, which are not very powerful, but are a huge leap forward.

To prevent this, the United States has added Chinese companies that make processors and memory chips to the list. The Netherlands and Japan could follow this path, which would be a big problem. The Netherlands has ASML, which makes the machines that produce the chips. Japan is the main supplier of silicon wafers to make memories and chips.

China, given all this, has initiated a procedure in the World Trade Organization to prevent these restrictions. It seems difficult enough that this body can lift US sanctions.
