Nothing offers the former design director of Dyson

Nothing, the manufacturer of Ear(1) wireless headphones, has ambition and resources. The company has drawn in its nets a heavyweight in the world of design, Adam Bates: it was he who oversaw the creation of several of Dyson’s most iconic products!

Carl Pei knows how to surround himself with the best. The co-founder of OnePlus in 2013 was able to impose the brand in a very competitive smartphone market. He left the manufacturer in 2020 to start a new adventure called Nothing. But contrary to what the name suggests, there is a lot going on there!

The Surprise Ear(1)

Last July, Nothing launched its first product, the Ear(1), wireless headphones with noise reduction at an excellent price/quality ratio, with an extraordinary design. And the manufacturer’s ambitions are immense! Nothing has indeed announced the creation of a design hub in London, where the company is based. And at its head, we will find none other than Adam Bates.

In the world of industrial design, Adam Bates is no stranger: this veteran of Dyson, where he spent 14 years, in fact supervised the creation of some of the manufacturer’s most original products, such as the Supersonic hair dryer or the Airwrap dryer that gives volume to the hair. He also participated in the design of the brand’s vacuum cleaners.

Now Design Director of Nothing, Adam Bates is committed to working with the company’s other teams to “bring people closer to technology”. “My mission right now is to build a team and develop a design culture to be able to create iconic products that will change the landscape of consumer technology,” he says. Sacred program in sight.

Nothing also indicates that it has sold more than 400,000 Ear(1), which are sold all over the world.
