NVIDIA confirms new GeForce RTX 2060 12GB graphics card

The GeForce RTX 2060 12GB graphics card exists and will be on the market very soon. The rumors hit again and it is that in the world of technology it is difficult to keep a ‘secret’. When the same companies are not the ones that are releasing interested leaks or the partners that prematurely announce their developments, as was the case with Gigabyte.

NVIDIA has released driver set version 497.09 for its graphics cards. In the release notes that are always posted alongside the software update you can see listed this GeForce RTX 2060 12GB. An unusual way for the green giant to confirm the existence of new hardware, as they haven’t even mentioned it in the driver announcement.

What the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB will be like

If we talk about ‘refried’ when they are used previous generation architectures and chips that have already been surpassed by the same manufacturer, this is an example. Of course, in the current disastrous production and distribution situation we will welcome it if NVIDIA is able to market it at a reasonable price and with sufficient stock.

We see the most innovative and prominent component in its name. Those 12 Gbytes of dedicated GDDR6 memory that would double the 6 GB of the original model and would also exceed the 8 GB of the SUPER version. Beyond this, its specifications are unknown although according to the previous information we could venture something like this:

  • Turing Architecture – PG161 Board – 12nm Fabrication
  • TU196 graphics core
  • Core speed: 1650 MHz
  • CuDA cores: 2176
  • RT cores: 64
  • Tensor Cores: 160
  • Memory: 12GB GDDR6 with 192-bit bus
  • TGB: 184 watts

The specifications are almost identical to that of the SUPER version, with more dedicated memory, although with a memory bus less than 256 bits of it. Your performance should not differ too much from it. As for the launch, there is talk of a date as close as December 7.

Its price should be between $ 299 and $ 399, which are those of the original version and the SUPER. It can be a good option if there is sufficient inventory, although it should be emphasized that it is based on an outdated architecture. The first RTX 2060 was launched almost three years ago and this would be its unexpected continuation.

More interesting would be the GeForce RTX 3050. As we titled in another of the unconfirmed announcements, a very necessary GPU in today’s market by offering the new technologies of the ‘Ampere’ architecture such as ray tracing and DLSS, along with sufficient performance to play games at 1080p resolutions and at an affordable price for any consumer. We have been waiting for it for a year and it seems that it will arrive in the first section of 2022.
