One in three Steam users already uses Windows 11, are you one of them?

Yesterday we saw that Windows 10 is still the king of desktop PCs, although Windows 11 continues to gain ground and is gradually positioning itself as an operating system. increasingly relevant in market share. If we look at the latest Steam data, obtained from the software and hardware survey carried out last February, we will see that this operating system is also experiencing a good moment.

During the February 2023 shutdown the total percentage of Windows 11 users on Steam was a 32.06%, a figure that represents a growth of 1.73% compared to the month of January, and that in proportion represents something very important: that almost one in three Steam users uses Windows 11. The share of Windows 10 fell to 62.33%but it is clear that said operating system continues to lead in Valve’s well-known digital distribution platform.

A look at the most used hardware on Steam

in processors 6-core chips lead with 33.42%, and its share increased by 1.34% during the month of February. The second most used are the quad-core ones with 27.96%, although they dropped 1.55% in February, and the third ones are the 8-core ones, which already have a 20.09% share on Steam.

It is curious that with 6-core processors leading Steam, the most common working frequencies have been reduced to between 2.3GHz and 2.69GHz. The second position is for frequencies between 3.3GHz and 3.69GHz, and the third for speeds between 2.7GHz and 2.99GHz. The most used RAM configuration is 16 GB with 52.71%, something that does not surprise us since that has become the new optimal level to play with guarantees.

And speaking of playing with guarantees, in this sense it is curious that the most popular graphics card in Steam is the GeForce GTX 1650, a model that performs less than a Radeon RX 570 and a GeForce GTX 970, although it defends itself at 1080p. The second most popular graphics card is the GeForce GTX 1060, and the third is the GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile.

For the rest there are no surprises, the most common space capacity exceeds a terabyte, the most used language is English, the most common resolution is 1080p and the most common amount of graphics memory are 8GB. The survey also reveals that the GeForce RTX 4090 is the most popular NVIDIA RTX 40-series graphics card on Steam, followed by the GeForce RTX 4080 and the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.
