The good thing about beta 1 of iOS 17
We begin by talking about the positive parts, that is, everything that I am liking about this beta 1 of iOS 17. The truth is that in the end, the best thing and the objective of installing this version is to be able to test the news that iOS 17 brings now. Despite the fact that this operating system will not go down in history for being the most groundbreaking, it does have certain aspects to highlight.
The first one I want to talk about is the function Stand by, which is that when you put the iPhone to charge horizontally on a charging base, the screen is activated and you can have up to two widgets with different information on it. Personally, I find it very useful while I work, since in it I can see both the time and the calendar, and even, if I play some music, also the song itself that is playing.
Something very striking are also the contact covers, which you can now customize for each of them. They provide a touch of fresh air that, although they are not really functional, that is, they do not provide anything that was not there before, they do attract quite a lot of attention aesthetically.
Finally, and this is what I liked the most, we must mention the interactive widgets. At the moment, as is obvious, they are only available for native Apple applications, but when iOS 17 comes out officially, there will be many more apps that will have their interactive widget available. In this way you can perform actions such as pause or play a song without having to enter the app, to do this you simply have to click on the widget, and that’s it.
The bad thing about beta 2 of iOS 17
Obviously, not everything was going to be goodand in the end what I have installed on my iPhone is a operating system under test, something that you have to be very clear about if you have entered this post with the aim of encouraging you to install it too. The truth is that for a first beta the system works quite well, however, of course, there are bugs that I have been noticing in these first days.
at the time of Enter the Music section in Settings, the iPhone automatically exits the app, making it impossible to access these settings. Another bug that I have found is that, after using the Stand By mode, sometimes the wallpaper stays rotatedand I have to restart the iPhone to get it back to vertical.
Now, what I have noticed the most has been a considerable drop in batteryand I repeat, it is something that cannot be blamed on Apple, since everyone who installs a beta on their iPhone has to be aware of the risks they run with it, hence, from La Manzana Mordida we do not recommend install betas on major day-to-day devices.
