OneDrive is part of the core experience that Microsoft wants. The tool allows you to store your data in the cloud and find them from one PC to another. This is partly why the Redmond firm requires users to use a Microsoft account on Windows 11. However, the dedicated application has not been redone for several years, but a new version could soon point the tip of his nose.

OneDrive can be used in the classic way on Windows 11 (via the file explorer) but also via the application. It is the latter which should receive a facelift, according to the first leaks.

OneDrive will get a facelift

It is Florian Beaubois (@flobo09) who reveals the first images of this facelift. As we can see, the interface is more modern, much more in line with the new design of Windows 11.

We can thus see that the options have been redesigned and are clearer. We have a better view of the entire application, such as the connected account or the remaining storage space. It should be noted, however, that this is not than a visual overhaul. From what we see, no new option is offered within the application. We still have good old OneDrive as we know it.

For the moment, Microsoft has not reacted to this leak. Officially, no new version of the application is in the works, but this leak tends to prove the contrary. In any case, we will have to be vigilant in the future and watch for a possible redesign of the application. As for the “classic” OneDrive via the file explorer, that should not change, since it is intimately linked to the design of Windows 11.

Perhaps this new OneDrive will arrive with the big October update of Windows 11? The latter should bring many improvements, both visual and technical.
