After unveiling the design of the OnePlus 10 Pro and the official technical sheet of the smartphone earlier this week, OnePlus has just detailed the new features that await users in the photo section. The OnePlus 10 Pro is equipped with the second generation Hasselblad camera, the specialist manufacturer of cameras.

As a reminder, the partnership between Hasselblad and OnePlus started last year and will last a minimum of three years, which means that the photo part of the OnePlus 11 Pro next year should also be developed jointly with the Swedish manufacturer.

OnePlus promises photos with more natural colors

The OnePlus 10 Pro arrives with a new technology called ” OnePlus Billion Collor Which will allow Hasselblad’s Natural Color Calibration to be applied to more than one billion colors. In other words, the smartphone will be able to take 10-bit photos with more natural colors.

OnePlus promises photos captured by the OnePlus 10 Pro will cover 25% more DCI-P3 color space compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro, and that the smartphone will be able to process 64 times more colors than its predecessor. Good news, all three cameras will be compatible with this technology, which means that the color rendering should not be very different from sensor to sensor.

For photo enthusiasts who like to retouch photos, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be able to capture snaps in a new 12-bit RAW + format. The latter would result in higher quality photo files, with greater dynamic range and noise reduction.

The OnePlus 10 Pro uses a 150 ° ultra-wide-angle sensor

This year, OnePlus has decided to equip its OnePlus 10 Pro with an ultra-wide-angle sensor offering a very wide field of vision of 150 degrees. OnePlus is not the first manufacturer to offer such a camera, since the ultra-wide-angle sensor of the new Realme GT 2 Pro can also capture shots at 150 degrees. So it should be the same sensor, a Samsung ISOCELL JN1, the smallest 50 MP sensor on the market. Indeed, it offers tiny individual pixels of just 0.64 microns, so it might perform less well than the OnePlus 9 Pro’s IMX766 in low light conditions.

As you can see in the comparison above, the increased field of view of the new sensor makes it possible to capture more elements of a scene, which makes the smartphone more versatile and allows users to develop their creativity. OnePlus announces that the ultra-wide-angle camera will be able to capture fisheye shots to offer a new perspective to photo enthusiasts. The OnePlus 10 Pro will also offer a second mode with a more traditional 110-degree field of view, with distortion correction managed by artificial intelligence.

A more professional video mode arrives

In addition to more natural colors and the new ultra-wide-angle sensor, OnePlus has brought new features to its camera application. This now offers a new “Movie Mode”, which allows you to adjust ISO, shutter speed and more while capturing video.

Users will also have the option of film in LOG format without predefined picture profile, which will give videographers more choices when editing. This is because LOG format files offer greater dynamic range and retain more information in shadows and highlights than traditional mp4 files.

OnePlus 10 Pro price and availability

The OnePlus 10 Pro will be officially presented January 11 at 7 a.m., French time, then will arrive in France later in 2022. Last year, the OnePlus 9 Pro was released here on March 31, 2021, but this new model could well arrive a little faster to compete with smartphones such as the Xiaomi 12 or still the Galaxy S22.

We also know that OnePlus could well reduce the price of its OnePlus 10 Pro compared to its predecessor, since a leak from China claims that the smartphone will be sold from 3,999 yuan (554 euros), against 4,999 yuan ( 692 euros) last year. However, we will have to wait for the official announcement to be sure.
