Last week, leaker @TechInsiderBlog reported on Twitter that OnePlus had recently filed a patent application for a high-end smartphone. As revealed by the patent diagrams, the smartphone was quite similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, which was presented last month, but took advantage ofa brand new rear photo sensor.

LetsGoDigital and Concept Creator have taken the images from the patent to create renderings of the smartphone, which allow better imagine how the smartphone should look like. The front is identical to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but the photo module on the back is quite different from the current model.

The OnePlus 10 Ultra would be the manufacturer’s first smartphone with a periscope

As can be seen from the renders, the OnePlus 10 Ultra would retain a triple camera setup on the back, but not all of them would be identical to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Indeed, we would always find the main wide-angle sensor and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. However, instead of the 8 MP telephoto lens, OnePlus would opt this time for a periscope sensor offering a more powerful optical zoom.

While the telephoto OnePlus 10 Pro must, like its predecessors, make do with a 3X optical zoom, a periscope sensor would finally allow the Chinese manufacturer’s smartphones tooffer 5X optical zoom. OnePlus would thus finally align itself with its main competitors such as Xiaomi or even Vivo.

For now, it is difficult to say when OnePlus could present a new model of OnePlus 10, but it should arrive sometime in 2022. The manufacturer has yet to officially launch its OnePlus 10 Pro outside of China, we imagine that a new model will not arrive for at least several months. OnePlus had initially promised that its new unified operating system with OPPO would be available on this generation, so this OnePlus Ultra could well be the first to benefit from it. Recently, we had also learned that it could be called H2O OS.
