OnePlus Nord CE 2, analysis: OnePlus continues to fill the mid-range

It’s been a long time since one plus It ceased to be that brand focused on a single top-of-the-range annual terminal and turned its objective to dominate the mid-range. Following its maxims of quality and efficiency, OnePlus continues to release models that fill an already somewhat saturated market and the latest model is the OnePlus Nord CE 2.

Simple aesthetics, neat lines and a high-quality screen, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 has three camera sensors, a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED panel with FullHD resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate.

Design

The Nord range is, as we say, the OnePlus mid-range, so the OnePlus Nord CE 2 is made of plastic. Although as always, they try to make the plastic look of the highest possible quality and that what stands out is its iridescent blue. If we turn it around, its three large lenses will stand out, even larger than those of OnePlus 9 Pro. In this case they are not Hasselblad lenses, as in the top of the range, so they do not bear their signature.

On OnePlus Nord CE 2 it is incredibly thin with slightly curved edges. We will only have one connection available type USB-C that will allow us to charge the mobile or connect it to other devices, on one side we have the lock button and on the other the volume.

As we mentioned at the beginning, the screen is 6.43 inches Fluid AMOLED with FullHD resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The frames are minimal, we only notice it at the bottom. Nothing interferes with the screen, since the fingerprint reader is embedded, as is the general trend in the vast majority of smartphones. There is no notch either, the front camera is also embedded in one of the corners of the terminal.

Screen

They highlight great quality, sharpness and color representation that are already a house brand. It is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and it has a resolution of 2400 × 1090 pixels with 409 ppi, the aspect resolution is 20: 9 can be seen frankly well from any angle, even when we play in bright light. It also has the functionalities of ambient screen, dark mode or color enhancement with AI.

We are not facing the best camera on the market, but we are facing a camera that, given adequate and stable conditions, can offer us very good results.

The number of beauty effects and filters that we can enjoy in portrait mode is striking. Directly from the camera, without going through Instagram, we can take the photo with the version of ourselves that we like the most.

Like all mobiles on the market, it has a night mode, although in this case it is curious how in the normal image mode at night it produces a more than acceptable quality and, on the other hand, in night mode the image is nowhere to be found.

In the right light, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 camera works without complaint, allowing you to create the content you want, plus with the macro lens you can take striking photos of the smallest.

Battery and performance

Regarding the battery, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 equips a 4500 mAh dual-cell battery with support for 65W SUPERVOOC fast charging, capable of providing up to a day of autonomy in just 15 minutes (twice as fast as the original OnePlus Nord CE) and can charge the device from 1% to 100% in 32 minutes. Also, like all OnePlus devices, this phone includes smart software that reduces the time the battery spends at 100% overnight to improve battery health and lifespan.

Thanks to the OnePlus layer, OxygenOS 11.3 that minimizes battery consumption with the screen off, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 achieves optimal charging times that allow you to enjoy your mobile practically without pause. Of course, it does not have wireless charging.

  • 5 minute charge: 25% battery.
  • 10 minute charge: 45% battery.
  • 15 minute charge: 62% battery.
  • 20 minute charge: 77% battery.
  • 25 minute charge: 90% battery.
  • Total: 33 minutes.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 octa-core chipset, which will provide us with support for next-generation connectivity with 5G and Wi-Fi 6 networks. In addition, this processor has been optimized to improve its energy efficiency that allows for better thermal control, system stability and prolonged gaming sessions. . It works smoothly with different games. Let’s remember that the layer of Oxygen OS 11.3 has a game mode that redirects all the strength of the device to what we are playing when it is activated. This mode has three options, so you can choose how immersed you want to be in the game: with notifications, text notifications only, or without any interruption.

In the software section is where OnePlus has disappointed something with its new model and that is that does not carry the latest version of Android, it stays with version 11. Of course, with hardly any bloatware and with all the Android stock. The Oxygen OS layer is one of the best on the market, to get something out of it, I never get the first one to geolocate the clock and give me the correct time, I always have to put it by hand.

Conclusions

I always say the same thing, if it falls within your budget, a OnePlus is always the right choice. It combines design, performance and quality to offer us the best while adjusting to a limited budget, in this case 350 euros.
