The first open beta of Diablo 4, the next installment in Blizzard’s cult saga, will open its doors this Friday, March 17, 2023. We take stock together of the opening time, dates and content offered during this early access.

If you are fans of the Blizzard license, you have probably marked with a white stone (or rather blood red here) June 6, 2023, the date on which Diablo 4 is expected on consoles and PC.

But before opening the gates of hell to all players, the studio intends to go through the traditional open beta. A critical step for Blizzard teams, as game director Joe Shely explains:

We expect to hear your opinion on the balancing, many bugs are going to be reported and we might even change aspects of the gameplay, to make them fun or intuitive… Of course, it will also be a test of the infrastructure of our servers, so that we can offer you the best possible experience on the day of the game’s release”.

But without further ado, we will detail everything you need to know about this beta. Opening hours, dates, content offered, here we go!

When will the Diablo 4 beta be available?

The first open beta of Diablo 4 will open its doors as soon as this Friday, March 17, 2023, from 5 p.m. You’ll have the whole weekend to play it, until Monday, March 20 at 8 p.m.. Note that a second beta period will begin next week. It will be held from Friday March 24 at 5 p.m. to Sunday March 27 at 9 p.m.

Who can access the open beta?

For the first stage, only players who have pre-ordered the game will be able to access it. Note that it is possible to pre-download the game files since Wednesday, March 15. Convenient to discover the world of Sanctuary as soon as the beta opens this Friday evening. As for the second phase, it will be open to everyone.

How to download the beta?

To download the beta, here is the procedure to follow on the different media.

On PC:

  • Launch the Battle.net platform
  • Go to the Diablo IV page and click on the Download the game beta button (provided of course that you have pre-ordered the title)

On PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series X:

  • On consoles, simply go to the Microsoft Store (on Xbox) or the Playstation Store and search for Diablo IV open beta. All you have to do is download the files

Note that the maneuver will remain the same for the second phase of the beta on March 24. In addition, if you participate in the 1st session and you plan to join the second beta period, you won’t need to download it again.

What content is offered during the beta?

Thanks to this beta, players will be able to discover the entire prologue plus the first act of the game’s campaign. As of this Friday, three character classes will be available, out of the 5 that will be included in the final version. You can try either:

  • the barbarian
  • thief
  • the Sorcerer

During the second beta period, the last two classes, namely Druid and Necromancer will be accessible. It will be possible to raise your character up to level 25.

If you want to test all the classes, no problem since Diablo 4 will offer 10 character slots. Ideal for trying out all possible builds.

In addition, Blizzard intends to invite players to take on a major challenge: defeat the Open Beta world boss. Indeed, the fearsome Ashava lurks in the shadows and you will have to join forces with other heroes to try to kill him on March 18 and 25 at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and midnight French time.

What are the expected rewards?

Of course, beta participants will be eligible for some rewards, three in number according to Blizzard :

  • Reach Kyovashad to get the title Initial supplicant or initial victim
  • Advance a character to level 20 to receive the title Early Prospector or early prospector as well as ornamental object Pack of wolves beta

In addition, it will be possible to boost the amount of experience obtained between 5 to 10% if you play in a group (up to 4 online and 2 in local cooperation).
