OVHcloud presents its cloud news for 2023

OVHcloud has held its first convention, Very Tech Trip, at La Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie de Paris. In it, in addition to giving more than 80 conferences on technology, he has presented what will be his main cloud innovations for the year 2023 before more than 2,000 attendees.

The person in charge of inaugurating the event has been the Founder and President of OVHcloud, Octave Klaba, with a talk in which he commented on the main lines of the company’s main development axes, as well as its most disruptive fields of application and the advantages of the group’s product portfolio in various areas. These include security, computing, storage, big data and AI.

The central point of the event, technology conferences aside, have been the company’s news for the coming months. These include the integration of IAM and KMS, which will be open source and offered via an “as a service” model to the OVHcloud product portfolio. It is a step that aims to ensure full control and encryption.

With IAM, the company’s clients will have centralized access management. In addition, the management of policies through API will be offered from the end of February, and in May it will be possible to do it through gestures. IAM for Public Cloud will arrive at the end of May, and in August it will be for VMware on OVHcloud. For its part, KMS will be in charge of automating credential management. Its test version will be ready at the end of summer.

Following the release of Metal Instances, the new compute instances will arrive in late summer. They will take advantage of a physical network in the data center with 5 times the capacity. In addition, the Metal Instances will have availability on demand.

On the other hand, Block Storage users will soon have a solution based on NVMe-oF, with computing resources physically separated from storage. Its trial version will arrive in the fall. In addition, the consumption of databases will be facilitated thanks to the opportunity to dynamically choose the size of the disks. SQL databases will also be integrated with S3 object storage.

As for Artificial Intelligence, AI Deploy, still in the testing phase, will be in charge of facilitating the transition from inference to production deployment of AI models when they are ready. Its final version will arrive in early April, and will feature pre-trained NLP beta models from Gladia and Voxist.

OVHcloud’s data services portfolio will also add new functions thanks to the purchase of ForePaaS. To do this, it will rely on a new infrastructure, while maintaining a “no code” approach. The basic components for data collection (ELT) will arrive with a first test version in August, in “as a service” mode.

In addition, the group will offer a lake house so that its clients have a complete orchestration solution with data visualization. The lake house service with SQL support will arrive next winter, and it will be open source to guarantee full reversibility, customization and vendor independence.

In addition, NSX-T will be deployed in April to improve cloud security, and in trusted environments, SAP customers using OVHcloud will soon be able to choose the SecNumCloud environment to run SAP solutions in a managed private Cloud. The new configurations will also have more RAM memory, and OVHcloud will be in charge of managing the hypervisor and infrastructure with vSAN HANA certified packages.

At the beginning of May, a new commercial offer will also be launched, designed so that bootstrap projects can start up more quickly. A new generation of servers will also arrive, offering more performance and faster load times. As for email, the group will soon launch a Zimbra-based email solution that is compatible with ActiveSync, as well as more secure collaboration tools.

The new Bare Metal offering will feature AMD Genoa and Intel Sapphire Rapids chips, with base configurations of up to 256 cores per U and up to 8TB of RAM in dual-socket server, and up to 2.2 Petabytes of storage capacity per U. server. Next Gen Scale and High-Grade products will start arriving in the summer. Likewise, a Grid Computing platform will be offered for which a test program will be opened next October.

The group will complete its portfolio of notebooks in quantum technologies with the availability of ATOS myQLMa quantum notebook dedicated to development and learning, and which adds to the existing Quandela Perceval notebook.
