Remember, at the end of January, Netflix announced the end of account sharing by updating part of its frequently asked questions. Since then, the platform has backtracked and deleted the changes to its FAQ in question.

According to our colleagues from Pure Media, paid sharing of a Netflix account in France would arrive next March. And there is no doubt that the price of the additional option would vary between 3.99 euros and 5.99 euros per month, if we rely on the rates applied in other European countries.

A clarification from Netflix on sharing an account

Around this vagueness, Netflix wanted to clarify things by making a focus on sharing a user account.

We recognize that there has been a lot of confusion about account sharing. A Netflix account is for one household only, so we’re rolling out new features in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain (and more widely in the coming months) to give you more control your account…” can we read in a tweet posted on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 on Twitter.

In response to his tweet, the Netflix Twitter account added a link to a note from the official blog. In this post, we learn that more than 100 million households share their user account. According to the streaming giant, this impacts its “ability to invest in new TV shows and movies”.

Paid sharing of a Netflix account in France: towards an additional option at €5.99/month (maximum)?

In Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain, Netflix has implemented a facility where users can determine a primary household, manage account access and their devices, transfer an existing profile to a newly created account, access their account while traveling or traveling to continue watching their content; and add (if needed) a sub-account by subscribing to an additional option.

In the four countries mentioned, members of the Standard or Premium offers therefore have the possibility of adding a sub-account for a maximum of two people with whom they do not live (each having a profile, personalized recommendations, an identifier and a password) for an additional fee of 7.99 Canadian dollars per month per person in Canada, 7.99 New Zealand dollars in New Zealand, 3.99 euros in Portugal and 5.99 euros in Spain.
