Palo Alto Networks enhances protection for SaaS applications

Palo Alto Networks has announced several new features for the protection, among other things, of software applications as a service (SaaS). These innovations have been added to Prisma SASE, and allow customers to identify and correct configuration errors in SaaS apps through the capabilities of SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM).

In addition, Palo Alto Networks has announced new ZTNA 2.0 security screening capabilities, which include Advanced URL Filtering and Advanced Threat Prevention powered by machine learning. Also the first Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) solution natively integrated into SASE, which simplifies network and security operations.

SSPM features security management capabilities powered by Next-Gen CASB, also from Palo Alto. These capabilities achieve end-to-end security, allowing customers to make security adjustments for multiple SaaS applications co-located. SSPM can help fix misconfigurations with a single click and help prevent configuration drift with the ability for users to lock down critical security settings.

Palo Alto Networks has also launched a advanced URL filtering feature, which uses deep learning in order to prevent phishing attacks. According to the company, it is able to detect 76% of malicious URLs before traditional filtering solutions, and prevents 40% of threats. In addition, it offers advanced threat prevention, with an intrusion prevention system solution that allows you to stop unknown command and control attacks in real time. New features use machine learning to improve zero-day threat detection rates without sacrificing performance.

Furthermore, Palo Alto Networks has natively integrated AIOps into its secure access service. Thus, it seeks to reduce manual operations and facilitate and speed up the resolution of incidents. AIOps for SASE offer automated root cause analysis, with rapid remediation and guided adoption of avoidance techniques. Its predictive analytics enable capacity planning and threat detection so that business process disruptions can be avoided. All in a simple, query-based interface.

The company has also announced new IOSN 1200-S and 3200 hardware systems. Designed for SMEs, they include an integrated switch and Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports to connect and power the endpoints of the local network. They offer power redundancy, thanks to the integration of a dual power supply.

Anad Oswal, Vice President of Network Security at Palo Alto Networkshas pointed out that «SaaS applications have given organizations the freedom to let their workers work from wherever they are most productive. However, the vast amount of sensitive data that is created, stored, and shared through SaaS applications exposes a serious data breach risk due to SaaS misconfiguration. Simply put, the world needs a SASE solution that can manage the configuration and security of SaaS applications. With today’s Prisma SASE updates, we are significantly strengthening the security posture of SaaS applications through the Palo Alto Networks Next-Gen CASB, which enables customers to easily view and configure security settings for multiple SaaS applications in one place. single place.”
