Pixel 6 breaks all sales records according to Google, despite conflicting figures

During a recent internal meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed that the Pixel 6 is the fastest-selling smartphone in the firm’s history. However, another report reveals that operators are having a hard time selling their customer’s phone. For the time being, it is difficult to disentangle the true from the false.

Available in stores since October 28, 2021, the Pixel 6 have experienced rocky beginnings. Indeed, more or less serious bugs have been linked, and it seems that the setbacks are not yet over for Google. In fact, the popularity of the smartphone has necessarily been tainted. However, according to the CEO of Google, the Pixel 6 is experiencing a blazing success.

During an internal meeting, Sundar Pichai proudly affirmed that the latest addition to the range is “the fastest-selling Pixel”, qualifying it in particular as “great leap forward for the Pixel portfolio”. While it’s not impossible that the Pixel 6 has set a new record in Google’s history, this craze from Sundar Pichai seems somewhat inconsistent with the reality on the ground.

Google claims the Pixel 6 is a real hit

Just last week, the research firm Wave7 thus alerted on the situation in the shops of operators. Pixel 6 sales plummet, report says, even forcing Google to offer a big commission sellers to recommend their smartphone to customers. Who is telling the truth in this case? Difficult to be sure, even if it is perfectly possible that Google and Wave7 both reflect reality.

The Pixel 6 could have had a very good start, before seeing its sales drop after the first reports of bugs. We will have to wait for the official figures before being certain. Moreover, Sundar Pichai also teased the next Google I/O conference which will have the May 11 next. This could be an opportunity for the firm to present the Pixel 6a.
