PlayStation confirms its absence for Gamescom 2022

After his small unseating of the Summer Game Fest, airing his State of Play presentation independently during the week before the start of the fair, it seems that Sony wants to finish disassociating itself from these big events of industry presentations, having now announced that will not be part of the Gamescom 2022 company roster.

The information, which first came to us from the German media outlet Games Wirtschaft, has finally been confirmed by a Sony representative, although unfortunately, the company has not wanted to share any exact reason to justify this decision. Although seeing the latest PlayStation interactions, it is almost an obvious action, opting for the celebration of its own events to try to maintain a more complete attention on the part of the users.

However, Sony will not be the only great absence, being in fact the second company to have confirmed its non-attendance, behind Nintendowhich has already adopted its standalone Nintendo Directs (like the one that will take place today) as the only means to present their next titles; In addition to other important entities such as Activision Blizzard or Take-Two Interactive.

That said, there will also be no lack of content for this Gamescom 2022, which is currently already has more than 250 companies confirmed for this year’s edition, already highlighting some names such as Bandai Namco, THQ Nordic and Koch Media. So, now the eyes seem focused on another of the big companies, Microsoft, which could take advantage of this scenario to delve a little deeper into Starfield.

And it is that despite the fact that something has always been kept in the shadow of E3, we must not forget that Gamescom continues to be the most important consumer electronics and video game fair in Europe, again offering this year a hybrid fair format that will allow us to follow all the announcements and news through the live broadcast of your online event; such as the ability to attend and try out some of the titles at their in-person event, which will again take place at the convention center in Cologne, Germany, between August 24 and 28.
