About a month ago Sony confirmed the introduction of two new subscription modalities to PlayStation Plus, its well-known service that, as many of our readers will know, is essential to be able to enjoy the game online on PS4 and PS5. These two new modes of PlayStation Plus are identified as “Extra” and “Premium”and they differ by the inclusion of a huge number of games that we can enjoy while we are subscribed.
With PlayStation Plus in its standard version (“Essential”), the current mode will be maintained, which means that it will cost €59.99 per year (8.99 euros in monthly payment). For that money we will enjoy the online mode, we will be able to download two free games per month and access discounts, among other things. The PlayStation Plus Extra modality will have a price of €99.99 per year (13.99 euros in monthly payment), and will add to all of the above a large number of triple A games that we can enjoy free of charge. Finally we have the PlayStation Plus Premium mode, which adds classic games from previous generations. Its price will be 119 euros per year (16.99 euros in monthly payment).
On paper it sounds good, but without knowing the exact names of the games that we can enjoy in PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium, it is difficult to make a precise and accurate estimate of the value that both plans really offer. Luckily, Sony has decided to lift the veil at once, and we already know which games will be the ones that we can enjoy with both modalities.

They will be limited to a maximum of two hours in most games, and only the time we are in the game will be taken into account. Obviously, this includes cutscenes and such, so it would be advisable to skip them if we want to maximize the real time of the game.
Renewal of titles and availability
Sony has also confirmed that the games that can be enjoyed through the catalogs available in the different modes of PlayStation Plus will change periodically, so that we will always have something “new” to sink our teeth into. The operation will be very simple:
PlayStation Plus Essential
will produce a monthly renewal on every first Tuesday of the month which would mean the addition of new downloadable games for PS4 and PS5, which means that it will work as before, without changes.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium
In addition to the aforementioned renewal, which will also affect these two modalities, there will be another renewal in the middle of each month that will suppose the modification of a part of the available games. Sony has not given an exact figure, it has simply said that this will be “variable”.
