POCO’s first smartwatch can be seen and is the same as Xiaomi’s

Last week, Poco announced that he was going to hold an event on the day April 26 to present its new Poco F4 GT, a new smartphone focused on gaming and whose main feature will be an advanced heat dissipation system. However, the terminal will come accompanied. In a recent leak we have learned that two new products will be presented: the little watch and the Poco Buds Pro Gengin Impact Edition. However, the smartwatch is rumored to have little or nothing original.

The Poco Watch is seen ahead of time

It was clear that the Poco Watch was not going to be an original product. On internet forums, many would have bet anything that Poco’s new watch would be a rebranded version of the 70mai Saphir Watch. However, @OnLeaks and Digit. In have spoiled the party a bit by leaking the product shortly before its launch.

The Poco Watch has a practically identical to the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2, that only came out in China – in Europe the Lite version did come out. Visually, both watches look identical. However, Digit. In has confirmed that this Poco Watch measures 39.1 x 34.4 x 10 mm, the same dimensions as the Redmi Watch 2. For many, knowing this detail has been somewhat disappointing. It is obvious that this is a maneuver designed to save costs in which Xiaomi wants to differentiate and segment its different markets. However, this new smartwatch promises a lot.

Technical characteristics

The Poco Watch will be available in a total of three colors: black, blue and ivory. It will have a 1.6-inch color AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360 by 320 pixels. It will also have its own heart rate monitor and measurement of the oxygen level in the blood through an SpO2 sensor, very useful in order to control sports activity or for people who have certain respiratory difficulties —without ever replacing medical equipment, of course— .

Regarding the battery, Digit. In ensures that the device will have a 225mAh capacity, although we do not know how many hours of use this data is equivalent to. Even so, the battery data is another point in common with Xiaomi’s Redmi Watch 2. For the same reason, this new watch is also expected to weigh around 31 grams and that it is resistant to water to a maximum pressure of 5 atmospheres. It should also integrate GPS, as well as support Bluetooth 5.0.

system and software

Another quite interesting detail is that this Poco Watch should arrive with a proprietary operating system instead of Wear OS. However, no further details have been published in this regard. We will have to wait for the presentation to see how notifications can be managed in this terminal, as well as its use for sports and the operation of its sensors.

Price and availability

The Redmi Watch 2 is sold in China at what here would be equivalent to about 60 euros to change. Therefore, the price of this new Poco should be around the same figure. The model should go on sale as soon as it is presented alongside the Poco F4 GT and Poco Buds Pro Genshin Impact Edition headphones.
