Prevent BleachBit from accidentally deleting personal data with this feature

With the passage of time and despite the improvements of our hard drives, the available free space continues to be of enormous importance in our equipment. Hence, many users choose to use programs that help us in this regard, as is the case with BleachBit.

Here we refer to files and folders that are occupying space in a totally useless way.

But at the same time, these programs present us with a good number of configurable parameters that allow us to customize their operation. Sometimes and by mistake these applications can delete some files or folders that we do not want to disappear.

Configure the BleachBit whitelist

Most of us have some personal and important content that we want to keep on our drives. Therefore, if we use cleaning programs of this type such as BleachBit, we should configure it to ignore those folders or files. In this way we avoid scares in the future or mistakes of deletion that can be carried out without us noticing.

In the program that concerns us in this case we only have to create a white list with contents that we could consider as untouchable. That way BleachBit will skip over all of it now analyze and try to find content to delete to free up space. This is precisely what we are going to talk about next. At first we only have to put into operation and execute the program that we are commenting on in Windows. But before performing an analysis, let’s configure it in this sense.

We open the configuration section of the application by clicking on the button that is located in the upper left corner. In the drop-down list that appears, we opt for the option of preferences. A new window appears on the screen with different tabs to be able to configure the application based on our needs.

The right part precisely we find a section called White list which is what interests us in this case. Here we find everything necessary so that we can add the complete files or folders which we do not want BleachBit to modify under any circumstances. All we have to do is click on the corresponding buttons to add both types of content and thus prevent the program from deleting them.
