Prime Video: Amazon makes a dumpling by broadcasting the last Doctor Strange

Someone obviously made a big mess at Amazon France this Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Indeed and for a few tens of minutes, the last big Marvel production Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was available for free access on the Prime Video catalog . However, as the French media chronology predicts, the film should not be accessible before the end of 2023. Fortunately, the gaffe was quickly corrected.

If you’re used to hanging out in the morning on Amazon Prime Video, you were probably surprised to see the free access presence of Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. Know that you are not the only one since many Internet users have published screenshots on social networks attesting to the availability of the latest big Disney Marvel production.

Doctor Strange 2 ends up on Amazon Prime Video by mistake

Only, there is a catch since according to the new media chronology introduced since the end of November 2021, foreign streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix or Disney+ must wait at least 15 months to propose a film released in cinemas in their respective catalog. Knowing that the last adventures of Stephen Strange landed in dark rooms this May 4, 2022, they should not be available for streaming before… the end of 2023!

You will therefore have understood it, this is a big dumpling from amazon who unfortunately made Sam Raimi’s film available on Prime Video. The feature film remained available for a few tens of minutes, before the e-commerce giant realizes its mistake and corrects it. Do not attempt to access Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, it is no longer possible unless to buy the film in digital format at €16.99 or to rent it for 48 hours at €4.99 (in 4K).

Note, however, that Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is now available on Disney+ in other countries like the United States. In France, media chronology obliges, this is obviously not the case as said previously. As a reminder, Amazon France recently signed a major agreement with Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery. Thanks to this partnership, the platform will be able to exclusively broadcast upcoming series from Warner Bros. Discovery as well as the latest films released in Sony cinemas such as Spider-Man No Way Home or Uncharted for example.
