Problems using the Brave browser? Learn to fix your bugs

Nor can it be ruled out that we have a connection problem that prevents Brave from loading web pages, or that it is a problem with the operating system or the remote server where the web is hosted. To try to solve it, we are going to review some of the most common solutions and that will allow us to continue using it normally.

Fix issues in Brave Browser

Although, as we have seen, Brave Browser can fail for many reasons, we are going to review the most common ways we have to solve any of these problems.

Refresh the browser

We have already mentioned it, one of the most common reasons why our browser fails is because we have an old or obsolete version of it. And it is that, in general, it is usually advisable to always keep Brave updated to its latest version available. In this way, we will not only have the latest news that its developers include, but also solve any error detected in the previous version.

brave updated

To do this, with the browser open, click on the icon with three stripes that is located in the upper right. This would have a menu and we click on Braves Information located at the bottom. Now a new window appears and Brave will automatically search for any new version available and install it. Once finished, it will display the message “Brave is up to date”.

Remove the extensions

Extensions or add-ons can be very useful to provide the browser with greater functionality. However, sometimes are often a source of problems, causing it to become slower and consume too much RAM. Since they are developed by third parties and do not always have the proper maintenance or configuration, they end up affecting the proper functioning of the browser.

Brave remove extensions

That is why, if Brave has errors, it may be due to an extension, so it is advisable to disable them. To do this, we open the configuration menu and click on the extensions. Once on the new screen, click on the button to disable them or the Remove button to eliminate them. Once this is done, we restart it and check if it is solved.

Clear cache and cookies

When you use a browser, such as Brave, it saves cookies and certain information from websites in its cache. If we delete this data, you can solve some website problems, such as problems related to loading or formatting. Sometimes the browser can experience various errors in the event that the cache is damaged, so deleting this data can solve various problems.

Brave clear browsing data

To do this we click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right to open its menu. Then click on Settings and Privacy & Security. Here, we click on Clear browsing data. Now we must select the time interval in its drop-down menu. In case we want to delete all the files stored in the cache, we select All the time. If we do not want to delete the browsing history and cookies, we uncheck these options and click on the button Delete data.

Disable hardware acceleration

Hardware acceleration is a technology that is responsible for using the CPU to perform certain tasks (for example, rendering a website or decoding certain content), the browser delegates these tasks to the graphics card. Since the processor chips are much faster and more efficient when it comes to processing this type of information, delegating tasks to it allows us to free up load on the CPU, which translates into a notable improvement in the general performance of the PC.

But this feature doesn’t play well with some graphics cards so it doesn’t always work as it should. And, if we have it activated, it may happen that our browser is slower, that consume too much RAM and CPU and even that it crashes or closes often preventing us from continuing to use our Brave browser.

Brave hardware upgrade

If we want to disable it, we go to the customization and control menu at the top right of the browser window, then click on “Settings”. Here at the bottom we click on the section of Additional options which will open a drop-down menu, where we will click on System. Now on the right side we uncheck the option Use hardware acceleration when available.

Reset settings

As a last resort for Brave browser issues and crashes, we may choose to reset your settings. To do this we go to the customization and control menu at the top right of the browser window, then click on “Settings”.

On the left of the newly opened settings page, expand “Additional Settings,” then click “Reset Settings” at the bottom of the list. In the main block, click on “Restore default settings”.

Brave reset settings

This will bring up a window telling us which settings will be reset and which will be kept. Finally click on “Reset Settings” and wait until the process is finished. If we have been using Brave for a long time, this process may take some time.
