PS VR2 compatibility and revolutionary AI, here’s what’s new in the latest update

On the occasion of the launch of the PS VR2, the Polyphony Digital teams have just deployed a new free update for their car simulation.

Gran Turismo 7 goes VR on PS5

This patch 1.29, totally free, includes to start full compatibility with the PS5 virtual reality headset. As the studio specifies, GT7 takes full advantage of the capabilities of the device. In other words, players will be able to enjoy a display in 4K HDR perfectly optimized and foveal rendering that uses 100% eye movement tracking.

In other words, you can therefore look around simply by turning your head, all without loss of quality since this technology displays in high definition the areas of the screen that the player is looking at. But that’s not all since PS VR2 owners will also be able to access an exclusive section: the VR Showroom.

Here, players will be able to admire the cars in their garage or dealerships in ultra-high definition, all in various locations and with different lighting conditions. Please note that this is full game support, in other words, you can use the PS VR2 on all game modeswith the obvious exception of the 2-player split-screen mode.

Regarding the other new features brought by this update, we note the integration of AI GT Sophy. This artificial intelligence, described as “superhuman and revolutionary”, was developed in collaboration with Sony AI. Players will be able to compete against this AI, which has already beaten the best pilots in the game, in a temporary mode called “Gran Turismo Sophy – Running Together” from February 21 until the end of March. Finally, we conclude this overview with the addition of the Grand Valley circuit and 5 additional cars among the cult Citroën DS 21 Pallas ’70.
